Mr Peter McDermott is a consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has been in the specialty for over 30 years. Mr McDermott is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Of England & Edinburgh. He is a Fellow of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and also a Fellow of the Association of facial Plastic Surgeons.

Mr McDermott has gained wide experience in facial deformity surgery through extensive training in world leading centres. These include Queen Victoria Hospital East Grinstead, Great Ormond St Hospital, Craniofacial team and Mount Vernon Regional Plastics and Maxillofacial Unit. He has expertise in the diagnosis and management of facial pain having been part of the specialist team at the Eastman Dental Hospital for several years.

For the past 10 years Mr McDermott has undertaken annual trips to West Africa and carried out major Maxillofacial surgeries and reconstructions in partnership with the missionary organization Mercy Ships.

Mr McDermott continues to publish articles and lectures regularly on topics related to the specialty. He is also lectures to London University MSc in oral and maxillofacial surgery on facial skin cancer and reconstruction.

Mr McDermott main professional interests include facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, salivary gland disease, facial pain and TMJ disorders and all aspects of oral surgery.

He is married with 4 children and lives in Hertfordshire.
